When sending an item with the Royal Post Office, always ensure you keep your receipt with reference number, this way you can localize your package at all times.
Where do you find this number?
The reference number is a number printed in your ticket or receipt. It contains between 9 and 27 numbers and it will allow you to localize your items along the way into its destination.
If you have lost your receipt, the online tracking system won't be available, but you will be allowed to use your personal details to locate your item by calling the post office.
Once you enter the reference number into the system, you will observe different messages depending on the status of the package:
- When your item is still in the sender's possession and ready to be picked up. - "We are expecting it"
- "We've got it" - This means that your item is at the Post Office ready to be handled.
- Once your item is in the Royal Post office network. - "Your item was posted at the Royal Mail customer service mail"
- "Internal exception occured" - this message appears when there are some system issues. In this case, you should try to log in later and try again.
- "In transit" - This means that your item is on its way. It will include a location.
- "Pending" - This message means that there are possible pending payments or steps to complete before to complete the delivery.
- "Ready for delivery" - Your package is at your local post office near your district.
- When it has been delivered to its destination. - "Your item was delivered "
- If your item will be delivered on the next working day. - "Retention item"
- When system issues occur. In this case, try again later. - "Internal exception occured"/ "We could not retrieve your details"
- "Collected" - The item has been collected from the local post office.
